Millennium Actress


Watched this movie tonight during the Japanese Anime Week (JAW) in HK - didn't expect the story goes that way and it's kind of like the way that those conventional crazy Hong Kong movie tell their stories - mixing surreal and real situations together in the same scene. The pace is quite fast most of the time, making it feel less impressive than Spirited Away in my mind as I could not have enough time to appreciate the skills of drawing - or perhaps it really still behind Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece level.

Make me interested in finding the more recent films of the Kon Satoshi such as Tokyo Godfather to know more about this director.

P.S. the repeating scenes of the memories of the main actress near the end is a bit tooooo much, as if it's just using it for the sake of extending the film's running time.
